VOLUNTEER REQUIREENTS
Arrivals and orientations
Tourist visa to the Ugandan Embassy or Consulate in your home country. In some countries you may be able to do it online.
Make sure you allow ample time. Ring the Embassy to check what to do. Do not leave it until the last minute. When you have sent your application
with everything you need to send with it, make sure you telephone them every couple of days until you get it.
Sometimes you can get it on entry at the airport in Entebbe but you can’t count on that. The visa cost is about US$50. You must check in case this has changed.
Transport from the airport to your accommodation in Jinja is only 200,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX). The return journey to the airport is the same fee.
On the way to your accommodation, the driver will take you to a bank in Jinja on the way to your accommodation so that you can immediately withdraw local currency and not find yourself high and dry without local money.
Accommodation
guesthouses are safe and clean. They are near to all the local attractions, shops, restaurants and night life in Jinja town, but far enough away not to be troubled by noise at night.
If you wish to find your own accommodation, that’s also fine. You will need to tell us where you will be staying so that our driver can collect
you and take you back each day.
You are responsible for booking and paying for your own accommodation.
For Speke Courts Hotel and Africa Guest House the rates per night are 40,000 shillings including breakfast. You must stay 7 nights at least to get that rate.
In Speke Courts Hotel for more than one person in a room each extra person pays 25,000 shillings per night.
